OsiriX and Horos Course · 3D Reconstruction
In this video I explain, in a practical and direct way, the difference between the two main types of 3D reconstruction in OsiriX: 3D Volume Rendering Based on voxels/pixels (density) Lets you adjust color, transparency, brightness/contrast and quickly visualize different "layers" (bone, vessels, soft tissue) Ideal for analysis and dynamic evaluation of the image 3D Surface Rendering Converts the volume into a vector/mathematical representation (surface) Keeps good definition when zooming in and is better suited for export and use in other 3D software (e.g., OBJ) Useful when you need a 3D model for external manipulation (e.g., planning/3D) I also draw an analogy with Photoshop (pixel) vs Illustrator (vector) to make the concept easier to understand.
