Lipedema Talks · Episódios
In this episode of Lipedema Talks, part of the Lipedema Evolution 2026 congress, Letícia Miyamoto interviews Dr. Anderson Nadiak, a vascular surgeon and sonographer from the ABC region of São Paulo. The subject is the fear of biopsy and what the investigation of the nodules revealed: by removing and microscopically analyzing these nodules, present in about half of patients with lipedema, the team discovered they were bleeding, not cancer or lipomas. Dr. Anderson explains the hypothesis of new, immature, fragile vessels compressed by the accumulation of fat, the link with skin bruising, and why localized pain improves after removal. He also talks about the decision to stop the biopsies for safety reasons and the research questions still open. Watch for a behind-the-scenes look at this discovery.
